When are you open for tubing the Virgin River and what are your hours?

Our 2026 season starts on Saturday, May 16, and we are open every day until 9/8.

We are open every day, Monday thru Sunday, from 9:00am to 4:00pm MDT.
Note - Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest days!

Question 2

Do I need a reservation to float the river with Zion Tubing?

We take reservations, as well as walk-ins! We are open 7 days a week. Our hours are from 9:00am to 4:00pm MDT, with our shuttles on scheduled departures every 20 minutes from our HQ.

Please note that reservations take priority as they have booked scheduled departure times.

Reservations: 
Availability is listed online. Please note that if you are not on time for your scheduled shuttle departure, the shuttle will not wait for you, and your reservation will be bumped to the next available time that day. Refunds are not provided for missed shuttles. If your desired departure time is blacked out, or not available, then we are at capacity for that departure time. You can reserve another departure time, or show up as a walk-in, just note that space is not guaranteed walking-in.

Walk-Ins: 
Walk-in availability is not listed on line, as it is first come, first serve. We hold space for walk-ins throughout the day. Please note that only in the instance of large group bookings will we not be able to offer walk-in service. These announcements will be made both on our website, and on social media.

Large Groups:
For groups of more than 12, please email us directly at info@tubingzion.com so we can assist in scheduling your group.

Las Vegas Travelers:
This is the best place to go tubing near Las Vegas! For guests driving from Las Vegas, please note that we are 1 hour AHEAD of Las Vegas time and plan accordingly. Late arrivals due to this will be bumped to the next available time that day. Refunds are not provided for missed shuttles.

How much does it cost to float the Virgin River?

Adults and Kids - $35 plus tax
*Holiday Pricing - $40 plus tax

If you would like to do a second trip (same day only), it’s $15 per person to be shuttled back.

What do I get for the price at Zion Tubing?

- A super deluxe tube with a backrest, handles, and covered bottom. 
- A personal flotation device for kids 12 and under ("life jacket," "boat coat," "life vest," "salva vida")
- Shuttle (we take you to and from the river in our vehicle so yours can stay clean and dry) 
- Free Parking!

We have several items for sale in our little red shed, such as footwear, cell phone cases, beverages and other merchandise.

Where do we check-in for river floating?

Our headquarters are located in Virgin, Utah! After passing the parking lot for Buffalo Trails Trading Company, turn right onto 700 W and then take your first right into parking lot. Our little red shed is in the corner for you to check in. Just look for our signs for floating the Virgin River!

Question 6

Is there a weight limit for tubing near Zion?

Accepted Answer

Our tubes have a 250-pound weight limit. However, we have taken tubers larger than 250 pounds down the river that want to go. Tubers that are above the weight limit should be aware that the river levels can change throughout the season.

Sometimes the river is lower at points, causing tubers to bump into rocks or get stuck. Sometimes the river is higher and faster flowing, which can cause tubers to be more unstable and get knocked out of their tube.

All tubers must be able to maneuver in their tubes on the river, or get back in their tubes if they fall out. Ultimately, it is about one's safety and attitude rather than a number.

Are there age restrictions at Zion Tubing?

We allow children ages 4 years old and up.

This is for your child’s own protection and a requirement by our insurance.

We also do not allow parents to have their child ride in the tube with them. Our tubes are made for one person, and it is dangerous to hold your child when navigating moving water. Our tubes have large handles that make it easy for you to hold onto your child's tube, which is much safer.

River tubing is a family-friendly activity in Zion that is popular for anyone on a family vacation or from the Virgin, Utah area.

How does the floating the Virgin River work?

The process is easy. Just park your car in the our Zion Tubing parking lot, located off of 700 West on the other side of Buffalo Trails Trading Company. Then come check in at our little red shed. Once your group is checked in, and waivers have been signed, we will get you on your scheduled shuttle, or the next available if you walk-in.

We then shuttle you up to our put-in. Trip duration, between entering the river and reaching the finish point, is typically 90 minutes. We always have a staff person waiting for you at the end of the float ready to help you out of your tube. The shuttle will pick up you to return to Zion Tubing headquarters.

Please note that this is a self-guided tubing experience, as we provide tube rentals and shuttles. We do not provide guided trips.

Question 9

How long is the trip floating the river in Zion?

Accepted Answer

River tubing trips in Zion vary based on water level and your group but generally last around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Be prepared to be on the river and in the sun for the length of the trip by hydrating and wearing sun protection.

Question 10

Do you have lockers for storage?

Accepted Answer

No. Your vehicle is your locker. Any item that cannot be submerged in water should be left in your vehicle. We will keep your keys for you in a dry and secure place so that the river doesn’t eat them.

Can I bring a cooler on my river float in Zion?

Accepted Answer

We allow small, personal coolers - where it is a small bag or little backpack. We cannot accommodate large, bulky coolers. Please help us keep the river clean by making sure that all items, including empty containers, stay secured on your tube or your person until the end of the trip.

Question 12

What should I wear tubing the Virgin River?

Accepted Answer

When floating the river in Zion, you should wear your bathing suit or shorts, basically anything you are comfortable getting wet in. Footwear is required (shoes with a heel strap are preferred, but flip flops are ok).

Please note, the river can be unpredictable and we recommend leaving valuables or other important belongings behind as you may lose them during the float.

Are life jackets required for river tubing?

Life Jackets are required for children 12 and under by the state of Utah. We also have a few adult vests for those who want them.

What shouldn't I bring tubing the river in Zion?

Accepted Answer

The following items should be left in your vehicle as you do not want to lose them tubing on the Virgin River!

- Keys (we can hold these for you behind our check-in)
- Electronics 
- Towels
- Jewelry
- Clothing that you wish to not get wet
- Glass
- Prescription glasses
- Miscellaneous items that can become river trash

Please note that we are not responsible for any items lost or damaged that you bring on the river. You may lock personal belongings in your car, and we will keep your keys securely for you while you are on the river. The river can be unpredictable, and we recommend leaving valuables or other important belongings behind so you do not lose them.

What is your weather policy?

During our season, we are open rain or shine, 7 days a week.

We constantly monitor weather and river levels, and will not put tubers on in the event that storms are nearby. We take flash floods and river safety seriously and have safety protocols in place in the event that the weather shifts while you are on the river. If the river level is above a certain CFS we will not put tubers on due to safety being our number one priority.

How deep is the water in the Virgin River?

Accepted Answer

The water depth varies as it is a natural river but for the most part, the water is 2-4 feet deep. There are some deeper pools along the way. This river can change often with rain, and especially during monsoon season. Always feel free to call us prior to check in on the water!

Will I get wet floating the river in Zion?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You will get wet but not soaked (unless you want to – it feels great on a hot day!).

Will I see wildlife during my Zion river float?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You are likely to see several species of birds as well as frogs, fish, crayfish and lizards. There are no water snakes in Utah!

Is the water cold in the river?

Accepted Answer

Nope! During our operating season (late-May thru mid-September), the Virgin River gets a lot of sunlight so the average temperature stays around 75ºF.  Morning float trips are when the river is coolest as once the sun is up, it will begin to warm up the water throughout the day.

What if I want to bring my own tube?

Accepted Answer

We do not accept other tubes than our own at this time. This is due to our insurance policy covering our own Zion Tubing tubes. AND don't worry these are the most comfortable tubes you will ever float on!
